Q. What is neuromuscular dentistry and can it relieve headaches, Seattle jaw pain or TMJ (tempro-mandibular joint) pain?
A. Neuromuscular dentistry involves using the muscles and nervous innervation of the body to position the jaw into a physiologically balanced, funtional and comfortable position. The 5th and 7th cranial nerves (there are twelve) contain over 60% of the neural tissue and consequently have a disproportionate effect on how we feel. Through neuromuscular dentistry we can often diagnose problems and positively change structures controlled by these nerves.
